I took a class in creative writing at ColumbiaDec 02 2006Perfomance Arts
I took a class in creative writing at Columbia and had my professor over the summer look over my portfolio of Dramatic Writing over the summer before I applied in the fall. My suggestion is if you're applying to Tisch and you know some one very knowledgable in the area you want to study have them look over what you're going to use to get in. Also a word of advice from an admission counselor, don't be afraid to perform something or include something that you would be afraid to show your parents. As for grades you can not expect a good portfolio to make up for lacking grades. Equal emphasis is based on both so make you're strong artistically and academically.
ACT: 28 SAT: 1950 Male

Pick intimate experiences to write about in your essaysOct 05 2006Video/Media
Pick intimate experiences to write about in your essays and responses. They want to see your personal spin on the same topic that everyone else is writing on. They receive the most applications out of any private university in the country, and anything to make you stand out is beneficial.
If you are applying to Tisch (especially film & dramatic writing), add as much emotion and sincerity into your essays as possible. Tell a story with your essays and make the reader feel what you feel.
ACT: 30 SAT: 1350 Male
